Getting You Prepared for Flu Season in Houston

Each year, around this time, we’re all encouraged to get our flu shots, and we learn about whatever strains of the influenza virus may be affecting Houston and the rest of the nation. But some in the medical community are concerned that events in Washington might be shaking up this year’s flu forecast. The government shutdown means, among other things, the federal workers at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention who regularly track the flu virus have – yes – been furloughed.

Today on Houston Matters…we’ll find out what we do know and can track about flu bugs in and around Houston this year, what vaccines are available, and what else you should know about flu season.
