Teaching Actors to Perform Accents

We all continually hear how diverse Greater Houston is, and that means hearing a great number of different accents and dialects.

But re-creating the voices that we hear throughout Houston – that’s a bit tougher. And that’s the job of Jim Johnson, Director of the School of Theatre and Dance in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Houston.

He works teaching student actors how to affect proper accents on stage and talks about what separates one accent from another.
