Houston Matters for Monday, Sept. 30, 2013

driving-while-texting-image-credit[1]In the latest KUHF-KHOU 11 News Election Poll, more than 88 percent of respondents said the state of Texas should pass a law banning texting while driving. And no wonder – texting and other activities on smart phones are becoming more and more a part of our lives. Houstonians text, e-mail and IM during meetings, pedestrians bump into each other, into cyclists, even sometimes cars, because they’re paying more attention to their phone than their surroundings. And, sadly, there have been deaths from car crashes involving people texting while driving.

On this edition of Houston Matters, we discuss cell phone culture – how our lives in Houston are different today than they were just a few short years ago, because we’re so committed to smart phone technology, apps, texting, and other forms of constant digital contact.

Also, we welcome your questions about estate law, including wills and trusts, for Jimmy Walker, the Houston Bar Association Chair of Probate, Trusts and Estates Section. He is also with Dinkins, Kelly, Lenox, Lamb & Walker, LLP, a firm that focuses on estate law.

Plus…we review a busy weekend in Houston sports with Chris Baldwin, Managing Editor and sports columnist for CultureMap Houston.
